The climate crisis ends up touching on all of those issues, as CNN’s chief climate correspondent Bill Weir told me. Removing politics from climate changeWOLF: It’s interesting to hear you say that about Texas, because the governor and the Republican-dominated legislature there would seemingly be opposed to doing anything specifically because of climate change. Joe Biden has tried to make the argument that addressing climate change should be an economic boom. It seems clear that we’re going to burst through the 2-degree tipping point that had been previously suggested as the tipping point for climate change. What that means for marine ecosystems and coral reefs, which are the cradles of life in the oceans, and what it means for the power of storms as we head into hurricane season has scientists really, really worried.

AdvertisementSo a month before I ended up getting pregnant, I decided to stop drinking alcohol and become sober. I was exhausted and didn't want to add alcohol to the mixRight after my daughter was born, my husband and I went back to work. AdvertisementI decided not to introduce alcohol into my postpartum life because, above anything else, I didn't want to endanger my child. I don't miss drinking alcohol at all, and I plan on staying sober forever. My life is better without drinking, and I feel like I'm able to be a better mom for my baby.

One startup wants to help consumers be more mindful about their alcohol consumption — and it just raised $11.5 million in venture-capital funding. The startup, Sunnyside, announced that it raised a Series A funding round led by Motley Fool Ventures. Sunnyside's founder Nick Allen launched the startup in San Francisco in 2020, initially calling it Cutback Coach. Sunnyside offers a mobile app that encourages "mindful drinking" practices via weekly goal setting, text reminders, an online community, and one-on-one coaching. Check out the 10-slide pitch deck Sunnyside use to raise its Series A funding round.

He started the firm after spending five years at Uncork Capital, where he realized he felt most energized working with first-time founders. Half of the firm's investments are focused on the creator economy because he's loved learning about the innovative ways entrepreneurs were addressing issues for creators. He didn't spotlight specific areas within the creator economy that are at risk of collapse or consolidation. Usually, the founders he's already invested in connect him with other BIPOC entrepreneurs, which is how he's earned his reputation as a go-to VC. Even if they don't know the person that well, Hudson has had founders reach out and introduce him to others.

The most valuable of all the Phillies, Harper insisted he was fine. Harper hit two homers in Game 3 and stared down Arcia each time as he trotted around second base. After Game 4, the Phillies had their fun, spraying Harper with beer and gleefully yelling, “Attaboy, Harper! A night after he hit two homers in Game 3, Castellanos became the first Phillies slugger, heck, any slugger in baseball history, to drill multiple homers in consecutive playoff games. Castellanos continued to wave his arms toward the crowd as he headed to right field in the seventh with the Phillies up 3-1.

CNN —“You’ll never be successful,” Errol Musk in 1989 told his 17-year-old son Elon, who was then preparing to fly from South Africa to Canada to find relatives and a college education. That’s one of the scenes Walter Isaacson paints in his 670-page biography of Elon Musk, who is now the richest person who ever lived. In a 2022 email sent to Elon Musk on Father’s Day, Errol Musk said he was freezing and lacking electricity, asking his son for money. Isaacson’s book revealed Musk had a third child (Techno Mechanicus) with the musician Grimes in 2022, and Musk confirmed the revelation Sunday. “Stop falling for weird s—.”Are robocars, an AI company and a robot called Optimus on tap?

As one does in Italy, Robert McCall likes to sit in a little cafe, watching the world pass by. McCall — an enigmatic avenger played by Denzel Washington — likes tea, but he’s fine with the coffee that a beautiful server brings him with a smile. This is the third and apparently last “Equalizer” movie that Washington will make. Maybe he’s grown tired of the franchise’s same-old ultraviolence or perhaps he’s bored with the predictable predictability of it all, even if this installment is as reliably watchable if ethically challenged as the previous ones. Whatever the case, little has changed since the first “Equalizer” (2014).

Over the course of the holiday break last year, Tian built what would become the main tool for his startup, GPTZero. They became some of the earliest adopters of GPTZero, Tian explained. "You have to imagine, this is before TurnItIn even knew what AI detection was, and OpenAI wasn't considering this at all either," Tian said. As customer and media interest grew in GPTZero, Tian realized he had built something that could be a full-fledged startup. Tian and the GPTZero team acknowledge that errors can happen with GPTZero as well, but that focusing on "human" detection can be one way around it.

LONDON, July 9 (Reuters) - Tens of thousands of champagne bottles are opened during the Wimbledon Championships every year but on Sunday one chair umpire politely asked patrons to keep them corked, at least until the players on court had served. "Ladies and gentlemen, please, if you are opening a bottle of champagne, don't do it as the players are about to serve," Australian umpire John Blom said on the microphone for all to hear. Potapova, who was about to serve, stopped to listen to the announcement before nodding her head in approval with a smile, amid scattered applause. loadingIn 2019, a similar announcement was made by an umpire when a champagne cork flew on to the court during a match between Benoit Paire and Jiri Vesely. The All England Club's conditions of entry to the grounds state: "All corked bottles, including bottles of champagne and sparkling wine, must be opened prior to being taken into the stands of any court."

Can you give one example of the sort of thing people want to see the bank do. About half of the countries in Africa at the moment, about 60 percent of low-income emerging market countries, are debt distressed. But a large part of the debt is actually held by private equity or private banks. It’s the bank sort of going to them and saying, if you do this, you will save yourself hundreds of millions of dollars in costs incurred in humanitarian aid, responses to disasters, in refugees. The bank has to be an advocate for smart development, smart climate action.
In recent years the 15-member body has been split on how to deal with North Korea. Although both Russia and China backed toughened sanctions after North Korea's last nuclear test, in May 2022 they vetoed a U.S.-led push to impose more U.N. sanctions over North Korea's renewed ballistic missile launches. North Korea fired several cruise missiles off its east coast on Wednesday, three days after firing a short-range ballistic missile into the sea. North Korea's last known firing of strategic cruise missiles was on March 12, when it said it fired two from a submarine. "But I think it is a much more dangerous North Korea than it has been in the past," Berrier said.
After weeks of intense London-Brussels talks, momentum has been building towards a deal to revise the Northern Ireland Protocol - the arrangements agreed to avoid a hard border with EU member Ireland when Britain exited the EU in 2020. "I had positive conversations with political parties in Northern Ireland," Prime Minister Rishi Sunak told reporters. In Belfast, Sunak focused his attention on the Democratic Unionist Party, whose opposition to the protocol must be overcome to make any deal work. The other political parties that met Sunak on Friday said detail from the prime minister on a potential deal was "scant". Sinn Fein, the former political wing of the militant Irish Republican Army that wants Northern Ireland to split from the UK and unite with Ireland, became the province's largest party for the first time at elections last year.
Dry cleaning is not only costly for consumers, it's costly to the environment as well. While some industrial dry cleaners are opting for greener chemicals, others are looking to change the whole business model. Presso is an Atlanta-based startup that invented what looks like a vending machine for dry cleaning, but its process is a little different. The process, however, takes only a few minutes and can cost up to 80% less than traditional dry cleaning, depending on the garment. None of the process of even doing logistics inside a dry cleaning facility, none of that exists anymore," said Jain.
